Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2, 2026

This privacy notice explains what Open Mat collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. We tried to write it in plain English. If anything isn't clear, email [email protected].

1. What we collect

Account info. Email address, name, and password. Passwords are hashed by our auth provider; we never see them in plain text.

Profile info. Anything you fill in on your profile — bio, disciplines you teach, certifications, photo, insurance documents, social handles, available-to-cover flag.

Activity. Groups you create or join, sub requests you post or claim, messages you send on a request, calendar events Open Mat writes to your system Calendar.

Device & usage data. Basic event analytics (sign-ups, group creations, claims) and crash reports. We use PostHog for analytics; this data is associated with your account.

2. How we use it

We do not sell your data, ever, to anyone. We do not run ads.

3. Who we share with

Other members of your groups. They see your name, profile, and your activity inside groups you share. Nothing outside those groups.

Supabase. Our backend provider. Your data is stored on their US infrastructure.

PostHog. Product analytics. Receives events and an identifier tied to your account.

Apple. If you grant Calendar permission, classes you cover are written to your system Calendar (write-only — we don't read your existing events).

We don't share data with advertisers or data brokers.

4. Your rights

5. Children

Open Mat is intended for adults (18+) coordinating professional sub coverage. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, email us and we'll remove it.

6. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your data from live systems immediately and from backups within 30 days. Aggregated analytics (counts that don't identify you) may be kept longer.

7. International

Your data is stored on servers in the United States. If you're outside the US, your data will be transferred to and stored there.

8. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, the right to request deletion, the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].

9. Changes

If we make material changes to this notice, we'll update the date at the top and surface a notice in the app the next time you open it.
